About us and our ‘family’

Introductions - we are Dannielle and Rob Carruthers, until recently we were responsible owners of 5 dogs, a guinea pig and rabbit. Unfortunately our family has reduced greatly over a very short period of time. Whilst I will never recover from the loss of ‘family’ members I console myself that I have given them the best possible life.

I was not emotionally strong enough to remove my dogs from this page, so leave their details as a tribute to them.

Having a passion for pets is what has directed us to provide this service for you. We have only ever entrusted our parents to care for our dogs and only then for a day and no more. We would never consider placing them in boarding kennels; they share every minute of our every day lives, including holidays. We only ever holiday in the UK and are restricted with locations due to the amount of dogs we take.

The breeds of dogs we have are a challenge in themselves with varying degrees of management required:

Fenwick – she is a 10 year old Bearded Collie – lots of work involved in caring for her coat to keep it tangle free. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Fenwick in 2009 age 13.5 , very sudden and unexpected. Rest in peace my girl– you were the best gift I have ever been given.

Bobby – 8 year old Bearded Collie X Border Collie – a sensitive man who loves his mum. Bobby suffers from separation anxiety which we manage through on-going training and reassurance. We said goodbye to Bobby in 2008 – tragically and very suddenly. My boy was devoted to his mum and his mum to him, now and always. Rest in peace my special lad.

Oscar – 6 year old Italian Spinone – a handsome gentle giant of a dog. Oscar developed epilepsy in 2008 and we are continuing our battle to gain some control of his seizures. He is a frequent (far too frequent) visitor to the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket as he experiences cluster seizures which completely debilitate him.

Chloe – 12 year old ex-racing Greyhound. A beautiful white lady with freckled ears, a bit wobbly on her feet due to corns and stiffness in her legs. We made the difficult decision to let go of Chloe at 14 years of age in 2008, there never was a braver dog! Your time with us was all too brief but you enriched our lives. Rest in peace my special girl.

Basil – the baby of our dog family. 4 year old broken coated Parson Russell Terrier – a true terrier with bags of attitude, he was sold to us as a ‘long-life battery’ he certainly is that, fully of energy and fun.

Our ‘family’ should demonstrate that we love a challenge and are very capable, we are experienced in handling animals of all ages with ‘issues’. We understand what it is like to return from a trip to find that your dog has destroyed your furniture through boredom or anxiety, let us help you.
